High Touring

With his debut album HIGH TOURING COLLECTIVE Jan S. Krizanic (*1995), together with his international ensemble High Touring 6tet, takes the listener inside on a journey through contemporary political and social issues and devotes himself to philosophical questions about being and expression. The individual members got to know each other at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz and are distinguished by their versatile characters, which is clearly audible in their music.

Jan S. Krizanic invites people to let go of their own expectations about the listening experience, about jazz and his album, and to get involved with what is there - to be in the moment. This is also reflected in his music: Verrent, the first of the 13 tracks, describes as a modern jazz fanfare how one unexpectedly gets into an unknown world. The second track Ap (ApEtSchiEter 1) opens a framing larger form that runs through the album with another three parts. Von Zuhause Aus is the first time you really dive into Jan S. Krizanic's sound painting, it shows the identity and versatility of the album. With a drum solo and Austrian soccer legend Herbert Prohaska, Schneckerl gives you a real stadium feeling. In the further course, the album moves musically on the broad spectrum of genres between jazz in all its facets, rock, electronic music and theatrical performance (Morph Rakete).
The work stands in commemoration of Uli Rennert's artistic and musical vision of "approaching creative ideas without boundaries or prejudice and finding what speaks to you, what makes you laugh, what goes deep - in other words, being open to everything."
